"Joy, sorrow, tears, lamentation, laughter -- to all these music gives voice, but in such a way that we are transported from the world of unrest to a world of peace, and see reality in a new way, as if we were sitting by a mountain lake and contemplating hills and woods and clouds in the tranquil and fathomless water."
--- Albert Schweitzer

About Me
- Katie
- I am a daughter of God who is striving to do and be all that God has for me. I'm a pretty normal person, kinda goofy at times, but I can be a dear. If I try :) I always try to be happy and I'm never lazy, I've tried, it doesn't agree with me. Once you meet me you'll never want for entertainment :)

So the part about the mountain lake, is a bit too thick for me. But the rest of it, I agree with. It reminds me of one of my favorite quotes about what the heart of writing and music is all about:
"Whether dead or alive, when the work of an author or artist communicates that which we intuitively know to be true, it’s as if we have found a kindred spirit. Innermost thoughts which may have simmered for years, vague and undefined—are suddenly given clarity, a voice, and a name. Should we really be surprised when those that do it best are still on our list of favorites—five, fifty, one hundred years or more after their death?"
You see, sometimes we listen to music with lyrics and the lyrics touch us deeply. And sometimes we listen to Bach or Dvorak and the music touches us. But the fact is that (lyrics or no) the music gives a voice to feelings and thoughts that have simmered vaguely inside. And it's not just about if you are happy or not, but it's also about things that happened in the past and how you are going to carry out your purposes in the future.
I dunno...I'll quit rambling.
